Braised Soya Sauce Chicken

Another effortless dish - Wm made this.


Fry some whole garlic and ginger in oil till lightly browned, add whole chicken (clean and pat dry), and brown. Add Chinese cooking wine, dark soy, oyster sauce, rock sugar, pepper, 5 spice powder, cinnamon and star anise and water. Braise till chicken is cooked and let it sit in the sauce overnight. Turn chicken frequently.
To serve, bring sauce back to boil and heat chicken through, chop into pieces, and pour bubbling hot sauce over.
Serve with steaming hot rice.
