The children had a simple dinner of fried mackerels with dark soy sauce. This is the hakka way of serving fried fish. When fish is plated, you drizzle dark soy all over, then pour the oil which the fish was fried in over the fish to create an oily salty sauce.

Stir fried cauliflower and a plate of chilled cucumbers was served with dinner.
